Chapter 3-Collaborative Journalism

This chapter on collaborative journalism/publishing highlights the fact that new journalists need to be more dynamic than ever before. Briggs states that collaborative publishing sites like Facebook, Wikipedia, and YouTube are here to stay, and that “now that the door is open, news organizations and journalists have an opportunity to collaborate with the audience and do better work.” This chapter also discusses the importance of linking, which is something I think my group needs to do a little more of on our faith blog. We might consider using Storify for one or more of our stories, just because the linking capabilities there are numerous and easy to make look nice. This chapter also encourages reader interaction with articles and collaborating with readers to have their content submitted as well. I think this would be a great opportunity for the faith blog to garner some community interaction and participation.
